Happy New Year to all of you! Thank you for following my blog over the years. I enjoy visiting you and seeing your work and learning the new things you are exploring.

  1. Beautiful Painting, Leslie! Happy New Year!

  2. Happy New Year to you, too, Leslie. I have so enjoyed your work and that of your students over the years. And I have that wonderful reminder in my living room of the clouds over the ocean to look at everyday. Blessings to you and yours for a wonderful 2015.

    • Happy New Year, Kate! Actually? Your recent storms prompted me to want to paint this. I had a reference for the pattern of the sky but the colors came from two other references and then I just went with what began to appear and tried to work with that. I was hoping it would look like a promise of a new day and not more storms.

      • It does look like a promise … Not a sunrise, but a sunset to someone on the West Coast. I love the colors of the light reflecting up from underneath the horizon.

      • Yep. You are right. Kate. For the west coast it is a sunset with a promise of tomorrows to come. …and how very perceptive about the light! and the colors just under the horizon. Thank you for putting words to my vision!

  3. Beautiful painting Leslie. I love how the light is reflected on the water. Hope you have a wonderful and creative 2015.

  4. Lovely Les! Color and flow draw me in.

    • Thank you, Nancy. I was trying for the promise of a new day. This one sort of came from inspiration from three references.

  5. Wishing you the very best of everything in the new year Leslie, look forward to enjoying more and more of your creativity here!

    • Oh Happy New Year, Padmaja! I am looking for the same from you. I so enjoy your work!

  6. Happy New Year, Leslie. Blessings to you this coming year and always…

  7. Looking forward to 2015 and….more of you! Well, you know…you, your art, your inspiring instruction, the whole sheebang!
    Like I said….more of you.

  8. Lovely painting.

    • Hi Mary,
Happy New Year to you! I have really enjoyed the winter scenes you have been painting in oil pastels!

      • What a beautiful comment Leslie – thank you very much and glad you enjoyed the winter paintings!

  18. Beautiful landscape and I hope you keep blogging for plenty more years. So many art blogs come and go each year, it seems. It takes a lot of time to prepare pictures and post things and write things. So hooray for keeping at it, to all of us. ;D

    • I have noticed the same thing about the coming and going of blogs, Cindy. Thank you for this comment. You are so right. It has also taken me time to figure out new things that change on wordpress as I am not too “techy”. 🙂 When I began this journey, it was for the sole purpose of sharing what I enjoy doing and give others ideas about how they could explore watercolor. I have received back more and more from all of you. Your creativity amazes me. High praise to you, too, for your explorations and willingness to continue sharing!

wallowing in the color Leslie! If it’s like me, the color reaches down deep inside and is so wonderful. Thanks for sharing this!

      • Yep. Wallowing is what I’d call it. Paintings like this are the keystones of future paintings. I learned so much. Thank you, Joy.
