It’s fun to paint your family’s portraits.

  1. Cool idea Les, you’ve captured them both very well…I’m still amazed how well you do people. I love the style that you use for these, and I like it alot that I can still see the pencil.

    • Thanks again!

  2. Grandpa is my favorite! All the yummy color and his mouth and jowl area is so incredibly well done. Beautiful!! Your Dad looks like my brother in-law. 🙂

  3. I like these portraits – I like the way you mix your colours on the page – this is a good example for me. I see you use your spotting mixing technique in your Dad’s beard – neat.

  4. Hi Leslie,
Had to come and see the portraits for myself after you told me about them. And of course they are fabulous.

I agree with SQ about loving how you mixed the colors right on the paper.

    Both images are great!

  5. Cool paintings! Hey, just wanna ask what kind of textured paper did you use here? I know I’ve used that but forgot the name. Thanks! 🙂

    • Thank you for your comment! The paper I used for these is Arches 140lb coldpress paper.
