Oh, my! This brings back my travels to Morocco and Egypt! Lovely painting!
bigsurkate, on a mountain top in Big Sur
The picture you re-posted, recently, of the three standing camels reminded me that I had saved this one from Paint My Photo. Thanks to you I returned to it and enjoyed every minute of painting camels. Merry Christmas, Kate…. I am sorry for the people who had to face a fire in Big Sur recently.
and a Merry Christmas to you Leslie….
Take care…You Matter…
Thank you, Lady Blue. Merry Christmas to you.
How beautiful, Leslie! My thoughts instantly went to the manger. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Your thoughts went where I figured these may take people. Maybe the light. Maybe the peacefulness. Maybe to think about family…… Thankyou and Merry Christmas to you and yours, also, Sherry.
Thankyou, so much!
Merry Christmas, Leslie.
Thanks, Nuno! Merry Christmas to you, too!
Wow! I love the camels! The detail in their gear, the different angles of their heads and the water in the background. Terrific! Merry Christmas!
You have painted a steampunk camel, if I remember, correctly……with a monocle, right? I really like their faces and their long knobby legs. Thankyou and Merry Christmas to you, Cindy!
Hmm. I did a holiday camel, with a santa hat. And a steampunk llama with an eyepiece. And a goat with a monocle. Haha. It’s been ages since you posted, hope you’re having fun! I started acrylics! Because I’m a bit crazy and I joined this 30 day challenge. 🙂
Wow! A gorgeous painting! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Oh, and Merry Christmas to you and the husband and Kaiya! Thankyou!
Peace to you and yours, Leslie.
Thankyou! …and Merry Christmas to you, too!
Hopeful New Year, Leslie
Thankyou for this very special Happy New Year, Eva! Have a great New Year!
I love this ! The Light certainly shines in your painting.
Happy Holiday Season, Leslie and many good wishes for the New Year.
Thank you, Isa! Happy Holidays to you, too!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I’ve learned so much from your blog. Thanks.
Thankyou, so much for that, Ruth. Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year, too!
Would you mind a question? Since I seem to be doing a lot of black animals lately, what is the difference between neutral tint and the lamp black in AJ watercolors?
Lamp black is a weaker black, it is a little more opaque, also. Neutral tint is more transparent and very strong. I like neutral tint if I need a black. Here is the post I wrote about black watercolor and there is a strip of each black so you can visualise them. Hope that helps, Ruth. https://lesliepaints.wordpress.com/2010/10/03/working-in-black-and-white-watercolor/ Also, think you might be interested in viewing these Alfred Leslie watercolors in black found here: http://paintingperceptions.com/contemporary-realism/driving-notan-with-alfred-leslies-100-views-along-the-road
Thanks. CJ’s has $1 shipping until today so I wanted to order.
Very appropriate image for the season! Have a wonderfully creative 2014!!
Hi Al…. Thankyou!
Sending best wishes for a wonderful New Year. You have captured the feeling of a deep, starry night. but the painting is still colorful and vibrant.
Getting it to look like night with light coming down was the hard part for me. Thankyou for that comment about vibrance, Linda! Happy New Year to you!
He he he…. these guys make me smile! You are so clever and talented! There is only one like you!! Happy New Year!
I just loved those faces, too. I am a horse enthusiast, always have been and these camels just look like a rounded eared, droopy lipped version of a horse head. I even think their faces reveal a lot of character. Thankyou! Happy New Year!
Hope you’re well, Leslie! Happy New Year to you and family
Thankyou for the well-wish, Frank. 🙂 I have been shoveling and blowing snow and have let my painting wait. I just have wanted to sit and read after such exercise. Hope to be back at this blogging and painting more, now. Happy New Year!
