The above portrait was just plain fun to paint and try to capture the lift of the chin and the feathery neckline as well as the light. I found the reference photo for this on Paint My Photo. It was taken by photographer, Judy Wright.

This portrait is wonderful, Leslie! The hat and fluffy collar with that proud posture is amazing! Good job!!!
Smile. 🙂 Thank you, Beth.
Excellent work, Leslie. And she looks very confident too. 🙂
Thank you, Deb! 🙂
Wonderful painting! Reminded me immediately of the Red Hat Society (ladies who wear red hats with purple!)

The face is amazing, and all the textures too. Very cool!
I think this lady is a member of the Red Hat Society. The photographer had photographed more than just this lady. Thank you, Cindy.
Lovely to look at this work, it is a tough angle to execute.. the feathery thing around her neck has come out so well.great light too Leslie!
I like raised or tilted chins. It took me a long time to understand how the head rotated with this movement and I often messed them up, at first. That feathery thing would probably make me sneeze. 🙂 Thank you, Padmaja.
You really captured her persona.
Thank you, Gretchen.
Love her haughty look!
Thank you, Sherry.
Beautiful, Leslie. Somehow I imagine she would be smiling with twinkling eyes after the photo’s been taken.
I think you are correct in supposing she would be grinning following the taking of this photo. I think I made her appear more stoic than the reference. The raised chin …afterall. Thank you!
I was checking out your work…very nice.
Thank you, Hansi!
I love red and purple. This lady looks like she doesn’t fool around. Love the way you painted her boa. She makes me smile when I look at her. Great job.
I think I made her appear more stearn than she really was, Carol. I guess the look I was going for was stoic? She made me smile, too. Thank you!
Leslie, this is wonderful! I do love Paint My Photo! She has such an aristocratic, haughty face and I love the feather effect you’ve achieved with the collar/scarf round her neck!
You were the one that let me know about Paint My Photo. Thank you, Nicola.
Like-like-like-like-like-like-like-LIKE-A-WHOLE-LOT!
You make me smile A-WHOLE-LOT! Thank you, June! 🙂
I thought of the Red Hat Society, too. I like the lower view of her. She looks much more pwerful and regal from that angle.
That is exactly why I chose this particular pose of the group of four ladies she photographed. This lady is a member of The Red Hat Society. Thank you, Ruth. 🙂
Wow, what attitude! wonderful colors and personality.
Thank you, Ryan.
Enjoyed my visit here today, Leslie. Be well.
Thank you so much, Jamie.
