    • I need to paint everyone’s flags who visit here from other countries don’t I, Lynda. Maybe a project to consider. I was new to the worldwide web and this land of bloggers sharing their interests and knowledge and thoughts, when I started this blog.   12. Wow Leslie… That’s simply amazing… I love the way you’ve managed to create such depth to the flag billowing in the wind… and the way it seems to sparkle…

    • Thanks a bunch, Brian! I splatteredalittle bit of that liquid frisket or masking fluid on the white paper before I began painting and it savedthat white splatter areasyou see. The depth came mostly from painting in watered down blue for the wrinkles and dominant shadow to the right.

    the first thing that attracts me on this painting, is the crispness of the colours red and blue and the tiny speckles of white. i feel a raw energy of it floating in the wind. very nice!

    • I like that word “crispness”. That’s what I felt it looked like as I applied the colors. Thank you, Marvin!

    • The 4th was wonderful. I had a day to do just as i please and was able to trim up all but a few of my bushes and get the weeding done! YAY! Thank you, Nicola!

    • Actually, Sartenada, this finished image has me thinking of painting a close crop of other countries’ flags. That kind of goes along with your feeling about this looking like a patchwork. Thank you!

  27. “myself on paper” I would have taken all of it that way, coming from an artist such as you. I have to think on this one.

    I love this picture of the flag. Most are so trite. This is refreshing and has a special joy about it.

        There is such a fine line between “seeing” and replicaring what we see and actually seeing from our own mind and soul’s way. There are times when, due to the approach I take, I go somewhere else and rely on a host of imagery and myself to bring that painting forward. That is much like what this technique does to me. At some point the reference material is abandoned because I see something compiled from a collection of my visions and senses. That is what I meant, here. It is a freeing feeling and I never know where this leads; bowing to the total experiences that this soul has accumulated over the course of my lifetime. These paintings tend to look different. I believe you touch on that everytime you write, Jamie. I touch on it intermittently. I think I collect imagery and add something of me, most of the time, then there are these.
