Happy New Year to all of you!
So beautiful, Leslie! happy New Year to you, too! Sorry I haven’t been much of a visitor this year. I resolve to do better in 2013! Hugs and may 2013 bring you great joy!

Happy New year to you, too. It looks nice and warm in your painting. Wish we had less snow right now!
I hear you, about the snow, Ruth! I am still trying to scrape the frozen stuff off the driveway and patio in some areas. Sooooo cold! Happy New Year!
Wow! That’s gorgeous, Leslie. And happy new year to you, too.
Thank you, Val. I have to say, your welcomeing in the New Year to blogging post was awesome. I really enjoyed the trip back through the year and couldn’t stop laughing about the search terms listed to find your blog. http://artyoldbird.com/2013/01/02/happy-new-year-im-pop-ular/ Hope more bloggers visit!
Thanks Leslie (and I shall respond to your comment in my blog in a while, am trying to catch up with some stuff!)
Absolutely beautiful and rich with color. Sunset? Sunrise? I have the red at night, sailors delight, red in the morn, sailors be warned thing happening in my head right now.
I kind of like this as a sunset on the old year; yes, because of the “red skies at night, sailors’ delight” saying. I can’t imagine anything other than a bright spanking new year full of wonder. I actually thought of that saying and it is the reason for my posting this painting for the New Year, Sherry. Thank you!
Happy New Year, Leslie!
Thank you, Gayle! Happy New Year to you, too!
How dramatic! Is this representative of how you’ve been feeling lately? A very happy new year to you and may 2013 be wonderful and healthy and happy and creative for you!
Probably over dramatic, but really wanted to try those colors when I viewed the reference. I remember a time when I was afraid to use reds. Ha! Thank you for the wish for 2013 and I send it right back for you, also!
Your lovely painting; what a warm welcome to the new year. I wish you a wonderful 2013, Leslie.
..and to you, too Hannekekoop! Thankyou!
Happy New Year! The colors in your painting are just beautiful and a great way to see the new year!
Thank you, Louise. Happy New Year!
Leslie this is beautiful and makes me long to be somewhere warm with amazing sunsets! Happy new year.
Thank you, Nicola. I have never seen a sunset quite like this but have viewed friends’ vacation photos that have. Happy New Year; and best wishes on a great start in your new home!
Happy new year, this is awesome, a great beginning!
Thank you, Padmaja!
WOW, what fabulous energy in this painting! Fire, movement and warmth! If that’s a peek into what 2013 will be for you, watch out! Have a fantastic New Year !
You made me chuckle, Isabelle. Thank you for this and Happy New Year to you, too!
Such a nice, warm painting on a very cold day. Makes me want to be in the place you created on paper. Happy New Year to you!
Thanks, Al. Me too. It has been very cold up here this past week. Now? temps are warming and we are going to get rain, I hear. Happy New Year to you, too!

WOW!!!! Welcome back! It seems like forever. So Happy New Year it is!
Bliss, I can’t find your blog. I clicked on your tag and wordpress says you do not exist…… Where are you?
Oh, I shouldn’t worry that my FL landscapes are too brightly colored? what a gorgeous one, Leslie! Wish you were here to help me capture some more….luv you, Sheryl
Heavens no! Your alligator is proof of that, Sheryl. Love that alligator. Hope you are enjoying your winter. It is going to be frigid, here, as we all head to class on Tuesday. We will miss you! Thank you for stopping in and I’m so glad you paint while you are there!
What a vivid tropic watercolor (and skycolor, to coin a term). I wish I’d been there to photograph it.
It’s a bit late for Happy New Year, so here’s to a Happy February.
The photo reference for this was in a landscape book of photo references for artists under sky and water scenes. They don’t tell the artist where they were taken, so I know nothing about it. I can tell you there were much smoother transitions between the colors in the sky than I was able to achieve…and I added the bird (artistic license on all accounts). I am not educated about photography so I would not know if the photographer had done anything to enhance the photo, but it appeared pretty real to me. I’ll bet you would not miss the chance to capture something like this, as excellent as you are with a camera! Thank you!
A BELATED HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, TOOOOOO!!!, Lovely Leslie! Just peeking in and back-trekking, smiling, awaiting Your latest. This is beautiful. Always is. Hugest Hugs, Thank You, and Namaste.
Thank you, so much for the visit and comment, Bliss.
Just caught up on your post about permaculture garden. Sorry you lost the footage on the worms. Made me think of how my granddaughter and I pick them up off the driveway and place them back on the lawn prior to backing my car out. The neighbors laugh. We stand and watch them wiggle their way back into the earth. They are fast with that!
